The Mandurah Aquatic and Recreation Centre (the MARC) has been recognised as this year’s Platinum Waterwise Aquatic Centre.
The highest honour in the State’s Waterwise program, the MARC was acknowledged for its outstanding commitment to water sustainability and conservation.
The award celebrates the MARC’s long-term dedication to reducing water use through a comprehensive range of smart, efficient and forward-thinking initiatives.
Since the centre’s redevelopment in 2017, the MARC has embedded advanced water-saving measures throughout the facility—from push-button showers and waterless urinals to smart monitoring systems and staff-led water audits.
A standout feature in the MARC’s water saving efforts include the introduction of a smart water-use monitoring system. The system automatically detects spikes in water usage, such as those that could be caused by leaks, and sends real-time notifications to MARC management. Quick action can then be taken to rectify any issues before large amounts of water are wasted.
Already recognised as a Gold Waterwise Centre, the MARC’s elevation to Platinum status is a fantastic achievement and a reflects the City of Mandurah’s commitment to using water sustainably and being a leader in environmental sustainability.
